Unions threatened strike action over government delays, highlighting inadequate staffing with only 17,647 clerks recruited against 22,927 vacancies. Next meeting is scheduled for October 15.

Why should Banks be open on Sundays
Our circular dated August 2, 2025,details , the United Forum of Bank Unions strongly protested government directions requiring bank branches to open on Sunday, August 3, for PM-KISAN disbursements. Rupam, Roy, the General secretary (AIBOC) in his letter writes, While we reaffirm our commitment to nation-building and implementation of Government’s welfare schemes through the banking system, an obligation that the public sector banks have always fulfilled with utmost responsibility and integrity, it is imperative to point out the manner and implications of this directive, which sets an extremely unhealthy precedent and disregards the rights and well-being of Bank Managers, officers and employees.” Unions highlighted the absence of RBI notification or legal authorization, forcing staff to work twelve consecutive days without proper compensation, violating labor laws and employee welfare provisions.
Banks did not open due to our efforts.
AIBOC extended support and solidarity to United Forum of IDBI Officers & Employees’ All India Strike
Our circular dated August 1, 2025, details AIBOC’s fraternal support to the United Forum of IDBI Officers & Employees’ All India Strike on August 11, 2025. The strike protests government disinvestment of 60.72% IDBI Bank stake through DIPAM and LIC, viewing it as backdoor privatization threatening public sector banking and national financial sovereignty.

Central Trade Unions and Farmers unions protest against Trump tariffs and bullying
Central trade unions and farmers’ organizations held a nationwide protest on August 13, opposing tariff threats from US President Donald Trump and the proposed India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). According to their statement, “CTUs-SKM calls upon all farmers, workers, students, and patriotic citizens to join the nationwide day of resistance on August 13, 2025, with various mass actions like tractor and motorcycle rallies, protest demonstrations, public gatherings, and other forms of protest as decided by different platforms and partner organizations.”
The CTUs-SKM coalition has urged India to reject Trump’s threats while maintaining the country’s sovereign authority to conduct trade relations with any nation, including Russia.
